Ronda

4. Qué datos no recopilamos

5. Conexiones a internet

Ronda Privacy Policy

Effective October 22, 2026 · Applies to the Ronda app for Android, version 1.0.0 and later, and to its website

1. Who is responsible

Ronda is an app developed by Alex Nuñez, an independent individual based in Honduras, who is responsible for what this policy describes. For any privacy question, write to alexnunezdev@gmail.com.

2. Summary of this policy

  • Ronda keeps your data only on your phone. We have no servers, there are no accounts, and we do not receive your information.
  • We use no advertising, no analytics of our own and no crash reports sent to us.
  • Ronda's data is not included in Google's automatic backup or in the transfer to a new phone. It only leaves your phone if you create a backup and save it or move it elsewhere (section 8).
  • Photos of your bills never leave your phone. The amount is read on your phone, without internet, and neither the photo nor the text of the bill is sent to Google, to Ronda or to anyone (sections 3 and 5).
  • Ronda only uses the internet on its own for automatic exchange rates, and only if you turn them on. Two third-party services are involved, explained in section 5: ExchangeRate-API and Google ML Kit, the bill reader, which may send Google technical data about how it works, never your photos or their content.
  • Backups are encrypted with a password you choose. You can create them yourself or let the app create them automatically.
  • If you turn on the phone calendar, your upcoming charges are also copied to a «Ronda» calendar that only exists on your phone (section 7).

3. What data Ronda keeps on your phone

Everything you record in the app, that is, what you type and the photos you decide to keep, is stored in a local database inside Ronda's private storage. Ronda does not send it to anyone.

DataWhat it is used for
Payments and subscriptions: name, plan, amount, currency, due date, frequency, category, color and icon, how many people share it and whether it is a free trialShowing your charges, the calendar and the analysis
Custom icon of a payment: if you pick a photo from your gallery, it is cropped to a square and reduced to a few kilobytesSo that payment shows with your photo. It is stored in the database and in your backups, like any other data
Optional details of a payment: provider, contract number, notesSo you can look them up. Ronda does not interpret or share them
Payment methods: only a name and the last four digits you typeShowing what you pay each thing with. Ronda does not ask for or store full card numbers
Bills: amount, label, dates and, if you choose, the photo of the billRecording services that change every month and calculating averages
Payment history and undone paymentsKeeping a record of what you marked as paid and showing how a price changed
Monthly income, budget and caps per category (all optional)Working out what share of your income your payments take and following your budget
Reminders: how many days before and at what time, whether you want another reminder when a payment is past its date (and how many), the day and time of the weekly summary, and the time of the monthly oneScheduling reminders on your phone
Saved exchange ratesConverting your amounts to your main currency
Preferences: mode, color, language, main currency, filters, background and card style, hide amounts, lock, reminders on, automatic backup schedule, phone calendar, the Analysis notices you dismissed and the date you accepted the Terms and confirmed you are 18 or olderSo the app looks and works the way you left it

The bill photos you keep are stored in that same database, reduced to at most about 2200 pixels per side. You can delete them with the bill or with all your data.

Photos and camera. Ronda never accesses your camera or your gallery by itself: it only receives the image you choose or take, at the moment you do so.

Photos of your bills stay on your phone. When you take or choose a photo of a bill, Ronda reads the amount on your phone, without using the internet (section 5). Neither the photo nor the text read from it is sent to Google, to Ronda or to any other service. If you decide to keep the photo, it is stored only in the app's local database and, if you make a backup, inside that backup, encrypted with your password. If you don't keep it, it is not stored: the temporary copy used to read the amount is deleted when reading ends.

4. What data we do not collect

Ronda does not ask for or receive your name, email, phone number, location, contacts, messages, advertising identifiers or bank data. It does not connect to banks or cards. It includes no ads and no analytics or tracking tools of its own.

5. Internet connections

Ronda declares the internet permission to fetch exchange rates. In addition, the Google ML Kit component, which the app includes to read bills, may use the connection to send Google its technical telemetry, as explained below. None of these connections transmits your payments, your bills or your photos.

  • Automatic exchange rates (off by default). If you turn them on in Settings → Currency, the app queries open.er-api.com (the ExchangeRate-API service) when it opens or returns to the foreground, at most once every 24 hours, or when you tap “Update”. The request carries none of your data. As with any internet connection, that service can see your IP address and usual technical data, and handles them under its own terms. If you do not turn this option on, this connection does not happen.
  • Links that open your browser. In Settings → Currency and in Analysis there is a link to exchangerate-api.com, and in Settings → Legal are this policy and the terms of use, which open on Ronda's website (section 15). They only open if you tap them, and in your browser, not inside the app.
  • Google Play updates and reviews. If you installed Ronda from Google Play, the app asks the Google Play app on your phone whether there is a new version (at most once a day) and, now and then, it may show the Google Play window to rate it. The download, the installation and your rating are handled by Google Play under its own terms. Ronda does not send it your data and does not see what you write in your review.
  • Use of Google ML Kit (reading bills). Ronda uses this Google component to read the amount of your bills. It works entirely on your phone, even offline. As Google explains, ML Kit's processing happens locally on the device; therefore, the photo of the bill and the extracted text never leave your phone: they are not sent to Google, to Ronda or to any third party.
The only thing ML Kit may send to Google is technical telemetry data for diagnostics and performance statistics. According to Google's official disclosure, this data includes: the phone's model and operating system, the app version, an installation identifier (which does not identify you personally), how long the reading took, possible technical errors, and the image's format or resolution (never the image itself).
Google states that it transmits this data encrypted and does not share it with third parties. On some Android devices, ML Kit may also download or update its components automatically through Google Play Services. Ronda does not control this automated technical flow between the operating system and Google.

6. Android permissions and what they are for

Permission or accessUse
InternetAutomatic exchange rates and Google ML Kit's technical telemetry (section 5). It is never used to send your data, your bills or your photos
NotificationsShowing the due-date reminders, the overdue-payment reminders, the weekly and monthly summaries and the budget notice that you turn on
Exact alarmsSo those notices arrive at the time you chose
Start when the phone turns onScheduling your reminders again after a restart
Fingerprint or faceOptional app lock. Ronda only receives a “yes” or a “no” from Android; it never sees or stores your fingerprint or face
CalendarOnly if you turn on «See in the phone's calendar». Ronda creates a local calendar named «Ronda» on your phone and puts your upcoming charges in it, with or without amounts. That calendar belongs to no account, so it is not uploaded to Google or any other service. Ronda only reads and changes its own calendar: it does not see your other calendars or your events
Camera and photosRonda declares no camera or storage permissions, so it does not ask you for them. When you photograph a bill your phone's camera app opens, and when you choose a photo (of a bill or for a payment's icon) the system photo picker opens and hands over only the image you choose. Ronda cannot see the rest of your photos
Files and the Downloads folderWhen you export or restore a backup, Android's file picker lets you choose the file. Automatic backup saves its files in the Downloads/Ronda folder through Android's shared storage, which needs no separate permission from Android 10

You can withdraw any of these permissions in Android settings. The app will keep working, but without that feature.

7. Notifications and widgets

  • Notifications. They are scheduled on your phone; they do not go through any server. They may show the name of a payment, when it is due, how many charges are coming in the week and their total. The notices for each payment, including overdue ones, show no amounts. Ronda marks them as private so Android hides their content on the lock screen, and if you hide amounts or use a lock, the weekly and monthly summaries only say how many payments there are.
  • Notification buttons. The notices about a payment have "Mark as paid" and "Open". "Mark as paid" only updates your records on the phone, without opening the app and without an internet connection: it does not charge anything or send data to anyone.
  • Home screen widgets. They show your upcoming payments and their amounts. Anyone who can see your home screen can see them. There is an option to hide amounts on widgets, and they are always hidden if you use a lock or biometrics. Widget data is stored in Ronda's private storage and is emptied when you delete your data. The "Shortcuts" widget only has buttons that open Ronda (new payment, scan and calendar) and shows no data.
  • Phone calendar (optional). If you turn it on, your charges for the next three months show in your calendar app and its widgets, in the «Ronda» calendar. They are all-day events with no alarm of their own, and they update when you pay or change a date. Anyone who can see your calendar can see them, and if you choose «Show amounts», their amounts too. When you turn it off or delete your data, Ronda deletes that calendar. If you uninstall the app without turning it off, it may stay on your phone; you can delete it from your calendar app.
  • Sharing your month as a picture. From Analysis you can create a picture with the summary of the month. It is made on your phone and is only sent to the app you choose in the Android share menu. With «Show amounts» off, the picture has no amounts.
  • System colors. If you choose this option, Ronda uses the tones Android takes from your wallpaper. Ronda does not see your wallpaper image.

8. Backups

  • A backup is a file you generate from Settings. It is encrypted with AES-256-GCM and a key derived from your password (PBKDF2-SHA256, 210,000 iterations). It includes your payments, bills, bill photos, history, reminders and preferences.
  • You choose where it is saved: on the phone, on a card, or on a service such as Google Drive if you select it in the file picker. In that case, that service stores the encrypted file under its own terms. Ronda does not sign in to any account.
  • Ronda cannot recover your password. If you lose it, the backup cannot be opened. For manual backups Ronda does not store it anywhere.
  • Automatic backup (optional, Android). If you turn it on, Ronda keeps that password encrypted in the phone's secure storage (Android Keystore) so it can make the copies by itself, every week or every month as you choose. Copies are saved encrypted in the Downloads/Ronda folder of the phone, the last three are kept, and they are made when you open the app. The password never leaves the device and is erased when you turn the feature off or delete your data.
  • Export to spreadsheet (CSV). It is a file with your payments and their history that is not encrypted. You save it wherever you choose and you must look after it.
  • Import from a spreadsheet (CSV). Ronda reads, on your phone, the file you pick in the file picker, shows you the payments it found and only adds the ones you check. The file is not sent anywhere or kept inside the app.
  • When you restore, the backup replaces the current data. Biometric lock and reminders must be turned on again on that device, and automatic backup stays off until you turn it on again.

9. Android automatic backup

Ronda has Android's automatic backup to your Google account and the direct app-data transfer to a new phone turned off. That is why Ronda's database is not included in those copies, even if you have those features on in your phone. If you change phones, use a Ronda backup (section 8) and keep it somewhere safe, for example your Google Drive or your email, before the change. Without a copy, the data cannot be recovered on the new phone.

10. Security

  • Data is in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot access on an unmodified phone.
  • Ronda does not encrypt the local database by itself. Protection depends on your phone being locked and on Android encrypting storage, as most current phones do.
  • You can hide amounts on screen with the eye on Home and turn on the lock with fingerprint or face.
  • The automatic backup password, if you turn it on, is kept in Android's secure storage (Keystore) and not in the database or in the copies.
  • Imported backups are validated before being applied and are rejected if they are damaged or not from Ronda.
  • No measure is infallible. If someone unlocks your phone, they can open Ronda unless you turn on its lock.

11. How long data is kept and how to delete it

  • Your data is kept on your phone until you delete it.
  • Settings → Delete all my data removes from Ronda your payments, bills and photos, history, payment methods, exchange rates, income and budget, preferences and the automatic backup password, empties the widgets and cancels scheduled reminders.
  • Uninstalling the app also deletes its local data and the stored password.
  • Backups you exported, CSV files and the automatic copies in Downloads/Ronda are not deleted: they are your files and you manage them. On Android 10 or later they stay on the phone even if you uninstall the app.
  • Since we do not have your data, we cannot recover or delete it for you.

12. Who it is shared with

No one. Ronda does not sell or hand over data. The only third parties involved are those in section 5 (ExchangeRate-API and Google ML Kit), the Android system and the services you choose to keep your backups. None of them receives your payments, your bills or your photos. The website has its own providers (section 15).

13. Minors

Ronda is for people aged 18 or older. When you start using it, the app asks you to confirm that you are 18 or older. Ronda does not ask for your date of birth and does not collect data from anyone.

14. Your rights

Since your data is only on your phone, you see, change and delete it directly from the app. If data-protection rights apply to you (for example access, rectification or erasure) and you want to exercise them or have questions, write to alexnunezdev@gmail.com. We will reply as soon as possible, although we will normally have no data of yours to hand over.

If you write to us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach, and we use it only to reply to you. Avoid sending passwords, full card numbers or bills unless they are needed to explain the problem. Email is also subject to the practices of the provider you use.

15. Website

Ronda's website (ronda.rondaapp.workers.dev) is informational: it has no accounts, forms, cookies of its own or analytics of its own.

  • It is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes technical data of each visit (such as your IP address) to deliver the page and keep it secure, under its own policy.
  • The site's typeface (Manrope, the same as the app) is hosted on the site itself. The page does not load fonts, scripts or images from Google or any other service: apart from Cloudflare, no one receives your IP address because you visited it.
  • Your browser stores in its local storage your choice of language and of light or dark theme. That data is not sent anywhere.
